Street Sweeper Social Club - 100 Little Curses

This is a video that I did with Tom Morello for one of his side projects, Street Sweeper Social Club.  I filled in for his regular bassist for one show in Tempe, AZ and for this video.  I enjoyed playing with Tom and the band but unfortunately, the video shoot proved to be my last engagement with them.

For me, this experience was a lesson in "Always ask about pay before you agree to the gig".  The day of the video shoot lasted 12+ hours and while it was certainly fun to bop around in costume for a rock video, when I asked the personal assistant if she needed my address to send my check, she looked at me, laughed, and said "No one is getting paid for this!".  In her and Tom's defense, that was totally on me to be sure of the conditions before I agreed to the video but as I had done a video before with Hilary Duff (and many TV appearances) and had always gotten paid, I just assumed that the same would be happening for this video.

To this day I am not sure if it was my playing, attitude, look, or the fact that I asked for money for a long day of work but the whole experience left a rotten taste in my mouth.  Oh well.  Lesson learned.  Good luck, Tom!

Ouch! Oh well, lesson learned, huh? Again, this is the sort of music I like. Too bad. I feel that your tale is a tale too many musicians can tell. Happy New Year my firend. Stay Safe and Healthy and check the fine print on the contract  in 2021
